Miss JoAnnA “Jo Jo” Perkin is a Canadian-born writer. She has been a high school English teacher for the past nineteen years within the Jackson Public School District (where she has served as English Chair for the last fifteen years, and facilitated at-risk after-school programs for thirteen years). She holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership.
Jo Jo is a recipient of the national A Day Made Better Award, and was a 2010 Teacher of the Year. Recently, she was also one of the honorees of The Power of One within her district.
Perkin writes a column for the Jackson Blazer. She is also the proud author of the classic Buddy the Bunny Children’s Series and The Best Vocabulary Book Ever! She is known for her words and wisdom, with multiple viral videos that have garnered upwards of 10 MIL combined hits! In her spare time, she enjoys commentating, acting, hosting events, and performing spoken word on subjects that run the gamut—from eternal love, growing up without a father, dating, Black History, social injustices, date rape, racism, self-worth, society’s woes, apathy, loneliness and isolation…to hope!
